Chaim Goodman-Strauss American, b. 1967

Chaim Goodman-Strauss is a mathematician and mathematical artist renowned for creating intricate geometric sculptures that bring abstract mathematics into physical form.

A former professor at the University of Arkansas, he co-authored "The Symmetries of Things" with John Conway and Heidi Burgiel, a seminal work on pattern and symmetry. His large-scale installations in steel and wood explore symmetry, aperiodic tilings, and four-dimensional geometry. As Chief of Design at the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) in New York, he created notable works including the "String Product" installation. His pieces are featured in permanent collections at universities and science museums worldwide, including the Museum of Mathematics at Stony Brook and the Goudreau Museum of Mathematics in Art and Science.
