What reaches us. What changes through us. What we carry forward.

GloSo ATL x The Sun ATL presents What We Carry Forward, a group exhibition bringing together nine artists whose practices are rooted in Africa and Latin America, with several shaped by years of life and work in Atlanta and the U.S. South.

The exhibition considers what we inherit through family, culture, memory, spirituality, and place; how those inheritances change through migration and encounter; and what we choose to carry into the future.

These questions unfold through three connected movements:

  • Roots of Imagination explores myth, memory, and living heritage - the symbols, traditions, and everyday experiences that form us.
  • Between Shores examines identity and belonging in motion, as familiar structures shift and the self is gradually rebuilt.
  • New Frequencies explores emerging identities and possibilities through color, texture, abstraction, and the rhythms of urban life.

Atlanta enters this conversation as a place where several participating artists have lived, worked, and built community. Their distinct histories and visual languages meet through shared questions about inheritance, change, and belonging.

Opening October 10, 2026, on World Mental Health Day, What We Carry Forward is the anchor exhibition for MENTAL 2.0: STATE OF MIND, WE ARE THE AUTHORS, Inceptr's month-long Atlanta initiative exploring mental health and wellbeing. The exhibition approaches this wider conversation through the cultures, places, communities, and experiences that shape how we understand ourselves.
