Art is more interesting if you look at it.
Ruth Franklin
Ruth Franklin is an English painter who has lived and worked in the American Deep South since 1994. Raised in rural Suffolk and educated at Brighton Art School, she has devoted more than four decades to painting and drawing.
Her expressive, often figurative work draws on personal experience, history, photography, and the peculiarities of everyday life. Her subjects range from intimate portraits and imagined landscapes to explorations of memory, displacement, and resilience. Working intuitively, Franklin embraces the unpredictable nature of paint, allowing images to emerge, evolve, and sometimes unravel.
