"My paintings are psychological landscapes and emotionally complex narratives. I combine
references to art history, pop culture, natural science and personal chronicles to represent the conflicts of life. The titles are important elements. Like me the stories are at once funny and sad."- Anna Jensen
Anna Jensen's Let's Go Dancing brings painting and music into close conversation-an immersive body of work inspired by the songs of Kevn Kinney, the Atlanta-based songwriter and frontman of Drivin N Cryin.
Working in saturated color and gestural form, Jensen translates lyric and atmosphere into psychologically charged landscapes. These are not illustrations of songs, but parallel expressions-visual responses that carry the emotional weight, rhythm, and narrative undercurrents of Kinney's writing. Rooted in Southern sensibility yet distinctly personal, the paintings move between memory, mythology, and lived experience.
At the center of the exhibition is an expansive, ongoing project: a reimagining of Kinney's catalog through Tasty Goody Records, founded by Jensen. What began as a birthday gesture during lockdown has evolved into a multi-year collaboration-100 songs reinterpreted by a wide-ranging community of musicians, each paired with an original work on canvas. The project functions as both tribute and transformation, inviting each participant-musician and painter alike-into an open-ended exchange.
The exhibition will unfold alongside a series of intimate, unplugged performances featuring Kinney and special guests, extending the dialogue between sound and image into the space itself.
Additional works on view include artists Kosmo Vinyl & Vyvyan Hughes, Lonnie Holley, Ruth Franklin, Harry Underwood, Eben Dunn, Chris Pig, Gary Goodman, and Purvis Young.
