A Landmark Photography Exhibition Celebrating Five Decades of Black Musical Excellence

The Sun ATL proudly presents "We Are Music," a powerful photographic journey through over five decades of Black musical expression as seen through the lenses of two Atlanta photography icons: Jim Alexander and Sue Ross.
Opening on Thursday, May 22, 2025 - on the eve of the 48th annual Atlanta Jazz Festival - and continuing through July 26, this extraordinary exhibition coincides with Black Music Month in June, celebrating the profound impact of Black music on American and global culture.
Through their distinctive perspectives and remarkable talent for capturing authentic moments, Alexander and Ross invite viewers to witness the soul, struggle, and triumph of Black musicians across generations. From intimate jazz club performances to massive festival stages, these images chronicle not just musical history, but the cultural resilience and artistic innovation that has shaped our collective experience.
