I thought of myself as an artist and became a musician by virtue of standing behind a guitar and playing it for years and years. If you do something often enough you'll probably get good at it.

Eric Goulden, aka Wreckless Eric, was born in Newhaven, Southeast England in 1954. Before he became a recording artist, he was an art student for four years in Bristol and Hull. He became “a momentary pop star” when his song “(I’d go the) Whole Wide World” was released by Stiff Records in 1977. He has continued to paint, write songs, record and tour, both as a solo artist and with his wife, the American singer-songwriter Amy Rigby.
