Shawn Vinson is an Atlanta-based art advisor, collector, curator and gallerist showing and selling original paintings, works on paper and photography by local and internationally recognized, contemporary and outsider artists.
VINSONart provides personalized, professional art consulting services for private, corporate and healthcare clients, including on-location presentations in metro-Atlanta and private gallery viewings at Different Trains in Decatur, Georgia.
Over the past thirty years, Vinson has cofounded four galleries and produced multiple pop up shows, beginning with "Art, Arte, Kunst" on Luckie Street during the Atlanta Summer Olympics. Vinson Gallery, Decatur's first contemporary art gallery, was a fixture on the Old Courthouse Square from 1998-2008. Vinson then shifted focus to procuring evidence-based art for healthcare facilities and cleared art for Georgia film and television productions.
Different Trains Gallery opened in 2017 in Decatur's Old Depot District, and added a satellite space inside Cornerstone Bank. DTG presented an eclectic range of exhibitions in both locations before the pandemic paused operations. Vinson was then recruited as gallery director of the Waddi in Inman Park, where he curated shows and hosted events until a zoning issue brought an end to proceedings in late 2022.
Different Trains reopened in May 2023, with a three-day Pop Up show celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Vinson Gallery. The gallery is open by appointment for private viewings and open to the public during pop up shows and special events.
